We have already been learning so many new things in school. Here are just a few things we’ve been up to lately.
Number time is fun! Every day we have been practising our numbers. We love to count and sort things and write our numbers in lots of different ways. We have been on a number hunt and a shape walk. We have fun with Numicon and use it to compare and sequence numbers. We like looking for numbers in the sand and the water.
We love learning sounds. Everyday we practise our sounds. We use lots of different mark making tools to practise writing our letters. We use RWInc which has lots of fun pictures to help us remember. We sing along with special rhymes to help us learn how to write each new letter.
We have lots of different topics this year. Already we have been learning about Owls and the Magical Woodlands. Our learning is based around pupil voice so the children can explore lots of there own ideas and lead the learning.
Well-being Wednesday. On Wednesday we take the time to choose lots of different activities that we would like to do. We like doing things like visiting the chickens and looking for eggs.
We also do PE on a Wednesday so all children can come to school wearing their PE kit.
You can encourage me to count as we are walking along. You can help me recognise and write my numbers whenever possible and spot them as we go along in the car or round the shop.
You can help me practise writing my name. As I learn new sounds please help me practise my letter formation each week.
On Friday I can choose a new library book from school. Please share it with me and let us talk about the story. As I start reading I will bring home flashcards and a reading book. Please help me practise little but often.
Here are the RWI set one sounds
Each sound is linked to a picture hook and short rhyme to help the children learn and remember them.
